Yesterday my mom informed me of the existence of a photograph. Neither she nor my father can remember the whereabouts of it but they both remember what it looked like. Picture this. A small, warmly lit apartment with pieces of art decorating the walls in strange, colourful conglomerations. A man stands in the centre of the photograph smiling down at the one year old girl with fluffy blonde hair whom he holds balanced on one hip. Another man stands with one hand resting affectionately on the baby girl's back and the other on the shoulder of the first man. His partner. He is also smiling. It's a big wide smile that just says I, in this moment, am so happy. And the little girl? She is beaming. Absolutely beaming with baby eyes crinkled into crescents and a mouth that looks like it's closed to hold in some mad remark about how fecking great this moment is because she knows you're not supposed to talk about things while they happen. She thinks them, though. Well, perhaps she didn't then but she does now. It's been fifteen years since that one year old girl used to run out of her parent's city apartment, down the hall and in through the door of the resident gay blokes of the building calling "Hi can I come in?". Ever tactful, it seems. And, frankly, she has one thing to say about this: EVERYTHING. IS EXPLAINED.
ETA: Okay, so several people have been confused by the first bit of this post. Lol you goons. SO, to help you adorable dingbats out, I am the baby. Me, Hannah, the slasher extraordinaire. The guys are this young gay couple who lived in the same apartment building as I did when I was a baby. Apparently, I loved them and would go running down the hall to hang out with them. The point? My parents should have known what was to come. Mooahaha. lol. No, really, how could they not? For Merlin's sake I would stop at the door (something I almost never did as a kid) and ask "You busy?" before coming in. DUDE. THE BUTTSECKS. I KNEEW. On some level. Haha. At one. ONE. That's twelve months of being in existence EVER and I was already pounding the corridors to see them be adorable. Hope this little P.S. helps. ♥ |
