Seems like I just finished making the last batch of cards, lol. I'm glad my Halloween cards reached everyone and that you liked them, I really enjoyed sending them out and I think I'll definitely be doing them again next October like I do my Christmas ones every December.

I'll be starting on two (less spooky more wintery) designs for this year's batch of holiday cards soon, and if you leave me your address I'd love to send you one. :)

My mind is just wandering about today not really settling on much. I slept really heavily last night which I haven't done in a while so I prolonged it as long as I could and got up in time to see the sunny part of the day fade away which was also nice because that's my favourite part. :)
Yesterday I was pretty dejected about it being November now, but now I'm feeling fine about it.

I ordered this shirt on Threadless and it came the other day.

The heat is on and my windows are open so I should go fix that.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!

+ Here are a few photos of my family's pumpkins. Guess which is mine lmao. He originally looked better but there was an accidental breaking off of a bit of his chin. I got the thickest pumpkin and I had to scrape and scrape forever and be very careful not to ruin the edges.

Also -- because I forgot to post about it the day of -- zombie walk this year was awesomee. I never take along my camera so I don't have any pictures except one very quickly snapped by my sister before I left (I was running late). But I'll post a few the other people took just for fun. :D

Here's the zombieHannah this year. My mouth looked faaaaar grosser as the day went on and I kept adding liquid latex to it and walking around nomming vacantly at people so it would stretch over my mouth. Very fun. :) You can't see it in this photo at all but that tube under my nose ran down my arm too. I had bandages and an impromptu hospital gown with ties and everything made out of a sheet.

It was a really gorgeous Fall day.

The hoard gathered in the Park Blocks downtown.

This guy was awesome, he walked around the ENTIRE WALK without ONCE breaking character, clutching this newspaper and zombiegurgling into his cell.

Zombies don't jaywalk... Well most of them.

Here's one of the zombie hunters at rest. They drive a huge painted grey school bus decked out in fake guns and "shoot" at the masses of zombies on the sidewalk. Then we swarm them.

There was dancing to Thriller in the square.

You all should check each October and see if your city is doing a zombie walk because they are excellentttt.

Halloween cards were sent out to everyone last week. Those of you geographically closest to me have already received yours, but to those farfaraway just know they are on their way to you and I hope they get there before the 31st. :) I'll be posting the art used for both verities of card ON Halloween so even if you didn't request me to send you one or you couldn't get me your address for whatever reason, you will be getting a digital version. Damn, I wish I had taken pictures of the finished cards. Dur.

Now, as I was coming up with designs for these cards I got all grandiose and wanted to send along with the cards things like candy, a Halloween mix, and other various spooky treats. But I realised quickly that I am far too lazy and far too poor to send what would basically be small packages to upwards 30 people. SO, insteaddddddddddddd - LET'S MAKE A MIX TOGETHER.

My family was not demonstrating enough Halloween spirit so I forced them to help me create an infantry of tiny green sugar cookie zombies. :D They are gory and delicious.

A lot of them were eaten along the way but here are some of them that remain! Also - my camera isn't known for it's superbity and our lighting isn't known for being very, well, light. So forgive the yellow, I couldn't make it go away without making them overly green lol.

+ Featuring: Brian Slade (bottom row, 3rd from the left)

+ Featuring: My dad, my self, and my sister with her huge eyes (bottom row, first 3), may it also be noted that the one that looks like a baby just smeared goo all over it is actually cool looking and red/orange/yellow, it's on fire but apparently my camera isn't impressed lol.

+ Featuring: It wouldn't be a hoard without Regulus Black! Also the blue one is Dad's 'swimmer'.

+ Featuring: SHAUN OF THE DEAD. He's got red on him.

+ Featuring: The few cookies we made that weren't undead.

INGREDIENTS

* 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
* 2 cups white sugar
* 4 eggs
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 5 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. (If you want to make your own zombie army, you can add a few drops of green food colouring into your dough.) Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 7 to 10 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely. Decorate!

never mistake teeth for wisdom

So long, wisdom teeth. Hello puffyface.

The puff isn't that terrible, I expected to be much more chipmunkfaced than I am but still, puffffff.

It was quite the adventure with laughing gas, an IV, then waking up in a little room where I proceeded to mumble through gauze at my dad asking him over and over again if my tongue was in my mouth and was he positive. Now I'm on antibiotics and pain killers that make me feel really drowsy all the time but all four of those damn teeth are gone at once and for good. :D I'd grin if I could, but I'm stuck in Perpetual Pout for the next few days.

Uno - I get my wisdom teeth removed next Friday, the 16th. AnxiousHannah is anxious but just because, while I'm totally fine with other needles, medical needles freak me ouuuutt and I'll have to have an IV placed. Nooot looking forward to it. HOWEVER. You all can expect a photograph to be posted to document my swollen chipmonkface for the entire internet to lol at. XD

Dos - If you missed my post about it, I am making Halloween cards this year! If you haven't already requested one, please do so, I'm happy to send them out to whomever is interested.
There will be two different designs, given to people basically at random. I haven't finished yet but I know one will be slightly sweeter while the other will be slightly more wicked. Both may very likely contain rot, though, lol, because I am trying to keep the spirit of the holiday alive. It's all still in the works, who knows what the finished products will be.

A List In The Life Of Hannah

Things I have done recently, in no particular order:

+ Watched The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas again because apparently I'm a mental masochist - I can't help myself, it's a beautiful film.

+ Walked the long way around to the cemetery with Emily Hooper (who you all would love only she hasn't used her LJ in eons). We visited many interesting people including two that we decided were laid head to foot ehehe, found an awesome tree, and a journal written by a mother every time she came to visit her son. Strangers would also leave her messages in the book, it was really sweet and intimate. We also decided that once her family died since there are SO MANY OF THEM we shall need to bury them all together in a huuuge plot of land and name it HOOPERLAND. Afterwards we wanted to go eat yummy vegan Middle Eastern food made from scratch at this awesome friendly little foodcart called Wolf & Bears (I love it just for the name) but we had no wallets so we walked home for vegetarian stuffed zucchini instead. Yum.

+ Finally did my laundry.

+ Found a Regubat via Google. :3 :3 :3 Doesn't he look like Regulus in... bat-form? DON'T YOU WANT TO JOIN A BAT RESCUING SOCIETY?

+ Ate too many of my sister's cookies. Okay, it only seemed like too many because I ate the last one ahahahaaa, but in reality I only had three.

+ Needed something to do with my hands as I watched a movie late one night, remedied this by curling my hair with paper. Wasn't sure if it would work... IT DID. BIG, BIG HAIR.

+ Bid my grandma a relieved farewell as she finally moved out of our tinyhouse! That was a loong time coming. And we all have our own rooms now!

+ Promptly got rid of all the old lady crap in the bathroom cupboard and reorganised. It was a thrill to my ~~notso~~inner Monica.

+ Doodled mizzmoonyluver on my Health notes. (O Health classes, you are all so delightfully easy always and allow me lots of time to doodle in the margins.)

+ Went to the dentist who then referred me to an oral surgeon who is sometime in the near future going to stick an IV in me and take out my wisdom teeth. fdjshfjsdhfjsdhsj IVs do not want. D:

+ Saw a beautiful scruffy man in the office who is, I swear, a reincarnation of Barty and wished I could kidnap him. :3

+ Performed a daring, dangerous, and probably illegal Ipod Rescue Mission when my ipod fell into an underpass. Thank goodness for agility and a break in the traffic. My ipod miraculously survived unscathed even after it's fall! Not a scratch on either of us.

+ Realised that no matter how many things I do my To Do List will always be enormous.

+ Ended this post with a FaceReplace. My sister's cat says hiiiii.

Halloween Cards - Comment to request!

September has arrived, the end of Summer and (for most of us) the end of Summer holidays. I am personally glad the worst of the heatwaves are long gone by now but I know most people will miss them desperately. Cold weather aside, to keep my enthusiasm up for this rather sad time of the year, as soon as September arrives I start getting excited for one of my favourite holidays that is now officially on it's way: Halloween.

Such a beautiful, thrilling time of year with similar celebrations in every corner of the world and - sadly - damn near as commercialized as poor Christmas, Halloweentime is my favourite time of year. From the smell of the air to the pumpkin carving to the ghost stories to the costumes to the excuse to pass my interests off as merely holiday cheer, I love it all. I suppose every flist must have at least one good natured creep, and I am willing to volunteer for that position. :D

In the spirit of the coming season, I have decided to do something I have wanted to do for several years now - Halloween cards! As most of you know, every year I ask everyone on my lj friends list if they would like to be sent a Christmas card but Halloween deserves some love too. I realise this is rather early on but they are my cards and I shall do as I please lol.

Went to walkandchewgum's birthday celebrations yesterday out at Silver Falls State Park. It was great seeing Krystal because her and I really don't see enough of each other and it was so beautiful out there, we saw bats. :3 It was space themed (how awesome is THAT) and I wore my tinfoil hat. Simple? Yes. But quite the Hannah costume.
I had a good time and I hope you did toooo, Krystal, thanks for having me up there even though I am the odd one out who hasn't known you for all that long lol. I hope no one minded the friendinsrusion or anything, I know things can get odd when there is one newfriend with lots of oldfriends but everyone was really nice about it and forgiving of my wobbly digressions XD.

On one of the windowsills at the lodge we stayed at I found a pencil left behind by previous guests and drew this on the back of my notebook.

My life Is In The Page

The other day I mentioned offhandedly that I really needed paper.
Today my mom brought me some. But it's a 9"x12" sketchpad.
Parents are so cute sometimes. But they really aren't helpful for when you've been reduced to newsprint. Working with charcoal and chalk, for me at least, is not something best done small.

In other news, it's my sister's birthday today. I know that often birthdays of kids you don't know aren't all that thrilling lol, but she's thirteen and that is so close to the fourteen that I was when I got this lj. Fourteen! I am just wowed that I managed to meet so many of you so long ago and then stay friends with a good chunk all the way until now. If I was half as ridiculous as my sister is now when I was around her age, I just have to say THANK YOU to everyone on my flist who stuck our younger years out together with me.

Also, unrelatedly, how cute are baby frogs? :3

+ This man is so wildly, unabashedly human. He takes things that other people might write about in the same old way and reminds us of the gritty magic that's in the parts of our lives that drag us down.

+ Went to the beach with friends the other night. Stayed in a yurt, almost got blown away by wind on the beach, I climbed a cliff, we talked about our lives and HPB, looked at stars, and I scared Clair, it was fun. Our car broke down on the way home and we were stuck in a field while the sun gave it's all to roast us alive as we waited for the tow truck. But I'm actually really glad the car broke down because there is something about being stranded miles from home passing out water and reapplying sunscreen in a shared crisis that makes people really bond and be able to share the experience fully.

It was such a great trip for really subtle reasons. It made me realise so distinctly how much better this year has proven to be than last year. The last time I went to the beach was August 08 with my family and I was horrible company because of terrible events that happened the night before we left. I spent the entire trip being snappish and morose. But there were goodthoughts about certain people and things and ideas that held me through and have kept holding me up almost exactly an entire year later. I've grown a lot and there are still problems and imperfections and still hardships to come but I feel I can face them and get something out of them, I didn't feel like that twelve months ago.

Yes, I fought against my bad luck and after five hours [literally] of battle, I managed to download Photoshop once more! It was a tremendous achievement on my part and induced a feeling very similar to the pride that toddlers must feel when they finally are potty trained.
According to legend I was never impressed with my own ability to pee in a toilet but I have heard tell that most toddlers are and perhaps my own pride even then made it impossible for me to show happiness at having learned to pee like a big girl because that would just be admitting that I had previously not known how and not-knowing is and was ever so frustrating... Or perhaps peeing really isn't as thrilling as our society makes it out to be. But that is just speculation. LMAO <3

In the spirit of admitting when I don't know stuff [which is often lol], I am trying to do more of that publicly because I think it is good for Hannahs to do so.

Also I just want your help. XD

In addition to re-downloading Photoshop I also FOUND MY TABLET'S PEN as well as FOUND A DRIVER FOR MY TABLET ONLINE AND REINSTALLED IT BECAUSE I LOST THE CD IN THE CD-EATING VORTEX THAT IS MY BEDROOM. AHH. I am still determined to find the CD lol. One day.

Point is - I now am left with no excuse not to learn how to make art with a computer. CRINGE. Guys? Computer-done art is GORGEOUS. I have nothing against it whatsoever. Except for the fact that I can't do it. I literally only have tried twice before now and both those attempts were very well guided yet simultaneously a SPECTACULAR failure on my part. So today I did two more little doodles, without any guidance this time and having forgotten all the good lessons that dear dear Gwenny has yet to beat into my skull fully, it's hard to do and I am a grumpy student so I appreciate her willingness to keep beating me until I learn lol. The outcome is nothing worth showing, trust me, that is not why I am doing this lmaoooo. If it were, I would be very depressed by myself. The reason I am showing you is to show you where I am, currently, computerart-wise.

Let me just say this because I really can't say it enough - DRAWING WHILE NOT LOOKING AT YOUR HAND IS HARD. It is seriously like some crazy kind of magic that I am not comfortable with, it is the most unnatural thing I have ever done. Like, I move my hand and a line happens on the screen but I cannot wrap my head around that.

I miss pencils.

But, I am determined to not be so completelyyyyy pathetically incapable of doing anything involving computers because I sense it will come in handy at some point. Also it is cheaper than art supplies that I can't always afford. Also I desire more versatility in general in my life.

THE POINT OF IT ALL: does anyone on my flist aside from mizzmoonyluver know anything about Photoshop, tablets, and/or anything else in that arena? Any wisdom to pass down? Impart! For I am a novice and I am in bad need of it and goodness knows I do and will pester Gwenny enough. :3 ♥
